Summer Hair
Here we are finally, on the plane towards Hamburg. We played two amazing shows in Finland this spring, but having more than six months off from European stages, it’s about time to get back on the road.
The spring break was just amazing. I really took my time off to recover after the couple hard years of work. I mean I did write, produce, promote and tour an album both in Finnish and in English and actually after the Sunrise Avenue farewell tour started, I never stopped. That's three years in a row. There were breaks of course, but the next session or show was on my mind all the time. I would do nothing different, but the time off now was really needed and I feel so good now. I travelled quite a lot. Highlight being Thailand visiting my brother and also two trips to Zermatt Switzerland with friends and snowboards. On top of that I’ve just been training martial arts (no new injuries, ninja level raising ;) and enjoying my life (sleeping like a baby) and preparing everything for the shows starting tomorrow of course.
The summer -25 will be probably the coolest I’ve ever had. I got a lot of shows (36 in total!) and on top of that there’s nothing else in the calendar. Nothing. I never had a summer before when I can just fully enjoy the concerts and the traveling and after the show is over in each city, I can decide if I wanna stray in the neighbourhood or if I wanna fly back home or somewhere else in between. I also have no TV shows or visits booked for the whole summer and I’m also not going to do any new songs writing sessions before the summer is over and all festivals and open airs are in my heart's memory bank. I was never too good at saying “No” to opportunities and jobs. Seems like I’ve learnt something during these year as I really said “no” to everything. Even to the Voice. And all that feels like the best thing in the world right now.
Taking my thoughts back to last October, I remember being so nervous of how it would be touring with a completely new album with all new songs. I had an idea then to play one Sunrise Avenue song every night, but then I decided to skip that part at the very last possible moment at the first show’s sound check in Luxembourg. Didn’t feel right back then. Also then I was sick with flu and my neck was broken and Jesus… There really were some dark clouds in the horizon those times. But then you people came and surprised and healed me once again and that tour was probably the best and most enjoyable I’ve ever had. Thank you.
So one more night in a hotel bed and tomorrow we switch on the amplifiers. I can’t wait and it’ll probably be hard to catch sleep now. But butterflies in the stomach means something important is about to happen. I let them fly. And… I can jump and bang my head again and I just actually might do so too tomorrow, watch me hahaa ;)
You people got less than 23 hours to teach everyone in your group how to shout “2, 3, GO!” in the right way. I wanna hear it loud tomorrow.
Big hugs you all. We see tomorrow. Finally <3
